RESPONSIBILITY & SUSTAINABILITY
Product Responsibility & Safety
The London Christmas Company places its products on sale in accordance with applicable product safety requirements governing the United Kingdom, the United States of America, and the European Union. This includes, where relevant, the framework set out under the General Product Safety Regulation (EU) 2023/988. Product safety is addressed through a manufacturer-led assessment approach consistent with these requirements, having regard to the design, construction, and intended use of each item as a decorative display and collectible object. When used as intended, our products are safe.
Our ornaments are designed and classified as decorative display and collectible items for adult use only. They are not classified as toys and are not intended for use by children.
In keeping with the nature of finely crafted metal objects, certain designs may incorporate features that require considered handling, particularly where historical accuracy or realistic detail forms part of the object’s character. Such characteristics are reflected in product information and labelling where relevant.
This approach reflects our broader commitment to responsible design, longevity, and the creation of objects intended to be kept, displayed, and handled with care over time.
Sustainability
At The London Christmas Company, we are committed to operating responsibly and with care for the environment. We believe that enduring design, thoughtful craftsmanship, and sustainability should coexist, and we take a considered approach to reducing our environmental impact across our business.
Our sustainability commitments include:
Responsible materials and packaging - We seek to use recycled, recyclable, or lower-impact materials wherever practicable, including in our packaging. We continually review materials and packaging choices to reduce unnecessary waste while maintaining the quality and protection our products require.
Thoughtful sourcing and partnerships - We work with suppliers and partners who share our values and demonstrate responsible practices within their own operations. Where possible, we prioritise suppliers who can evidence environmental awareness, ethical working practices, and compliance with applicable standards.
Reducing environmental impact - We actively look for opportunities to reduce our environmental footprint, including improving efficiency across logistics, operations, and energy use. We recognise that meaningful change is incremental and commit to ongoing review rather than fixed claims.
Longevity by design - We believe sustainability is also about longevity. Our decorative display ornaments are designed to be cherished, collected, and enjoyed for many years - not disposable or trend-led products. Creating objects intended to last is central to our approach.
Continuous improvement - Sustainability is an evolving journey. We regularly assess our practices and update our approach as materials, technologies, and standards develop. We are mindful not to overstate our impact or make claims we cannot substantiate. Where improvements are possible, we aim to take them thoughtfully and transparently.
We encourage our customers, partners, and suppliers to join us in supporting more responsible choices, together contributing to a more considered and sustainable future.
