Where Wonder Begins: The London Christmas Company x The Natural History Museum
Some places don’t just hold history - they shape imagination.
Over the last few years, our creations have begun to capture the attention not only of customers, but of institutions. Our private client list is growing, our designs recognisable, and our approach increasingly appreciated by those who see the importance of craft and storytelling. So when The Natural History Museum approached us to become their chosen partner for a series of new creations that would reflect who they are - it touched something deeply personal.
Because every one of us, especially our founders, carries an inner child. A child who once stood before towering fossils, wide-eyed and full of questions. A child who maybe, just maybe, dreamt for a moment that dinosaurs were still alive. To collaborate with The Natural History Museum - a place so many of us visited growing up - is to reunite with that sense of awe.
The Natural History Museum is one of London’s most iconic landmarks, a building as familiar as Buckingham Palace or St Paul’s Cathedral. It is also a home of stories: the story of life on Earth, the history of our planet, the discoveries that have shaped science, and the questions still waiting to be answered. It is the museum that appears on every must visit list - whether you are an adult seeking inspiration or a child tugging a parent’s hand, desperate to see the dinosaurs first.
And when the time came to decide how we would begin our inaugural collection, we were spoiled for choice. There are decades - even centuries - of potential design inspiration hidden inside those galleries. But some things are too obvious, too beloved, to ignore.

Dinosaurs.
They are, without question, the icons of natural history museums everywhere. And no dinosaur has captured hearts in Britain quite like Dippy the Diplodocus - the towering giant who lived for many years in Hintze Hall, becoming a world-famous resident of the museum. He is science and nostalgia, wonder and childhood, all in one beloved silhouette. And so the decision became clear: an annual dinosaur ornament, beginning a new tradition for families around the world.
Our first creation in 2025: Dippy the Diplodocus.
A tribute to curiosity, to discovery, and to the thrilling moment a child realises just how big the world once was.
Our collaboration didn’t stop there. For the second design, we travelled much deeper into time - to the ancient seas and the spiralling beauty that has captivated scientists and collectors for generations:

The Ammonite Fossil.
Its intricate geometry is a reminder of nature’s ability to create perfection long before humans ever tried. It has become one of our most elegant flat designs - a piece that celebrates both art and Earth’s great history.
But the final ornament in our debut trio doesn’t come from prehistoric oceans or distant millennia. It rises right from the heart of South Kensington - from the museum’s own breathtaking architecture.

The Natural History Museum itself.
Generations of children have passed beneath its grand arches. Those children have grown up and brought their own children back to marvel at the exact same entrance. Few façades in the world hold such personal meaning for so many. In our distinctive architectural style, we have recreated not only the exterior of the museum - with all its Victorian splendour - but also, on the reverse, the iconic Great Hall, complete with the magnificent blue whale suspended above.
Together, these three ornaments form the beginning of a story that could continue for decades - each one capturing a different dimension of our planet’s past or the building that celebrates it. For many families, they will become the start of a new annual Christmas tradition: collecting each year’s Natural History Museum release as it is unveiled.
This collaboration means a great deal to us - professionally and personally. It is a partnership that celebrates the joy of learning, the beauty of nature, and the belief that wonder deserves to be preserved. As we continue working together, designs for future years are already in motion - and the excitement of what comes next is almost impossible to contain.
Because the Natural History Museum reminds us that every story has a beginning.
And this is only ours.
