When Worlds Collide: The London Christmas Company x Natural History Museum x Pokémon

Some collaborations feel inevitable. Some feel surprising. And some feel like childhood dreams coming to life.

When the Natural History Museum approached us earlier this year about a partnership that would eventually involve one of the most beloved franchises in the world, we couldn't quite believe what we were hearing. Pokémon. The Natural History Museum. And us – The London Christmas Company – all coming together for something entirely unprecedented.

Since our first collaboration with the Museum launched, we've been fortunate to create ornaments that capture the wonder of natural history: from Dippy the Diplodocus to the architectural splendour of the Museum itself. But this newest chapter took us somewhere we had never imagined – into the vibrant, fantastical world of Pokémon, where creatures of imagination meet the principles of natural science.

The result? Two 24-karat coated gold decorations created exclusively for the Museum's Pokécology pop-up shop – a celebration of Pokémon's 30th anniversary and the fascinating connection between these beloved creatures and the natural world they're inspired by.

Pokécology is more than just a clever portmanteau.

It's a concept rooted in a bestselling Japanese publication that explores how Pokémon live, interact with their environments, and adapt to habitats from deep forests to shadowy caves. The Natural History Museum and The Pokémon Company share a profound appreciation for the natural world and its creatures – from evolution to environment – and that shared vision became the foundation for an extraordinary collaboration.

When tickets for the pop-up were announced in October 2025, demand was overwhelming.

The Museum extended the event and added more time slots, but even then, every single ticket sold out before the doors opened on 26 January 2026. Pokémon fans from across the UK queued virtually for their chance to visit the Cranbourne Boutique and experience this once-in-a-lifetime event.

For us, the challenge was clear:

how do we honour both the Museum's architectural legacy and the artistry of Pokémon in a way that feels authentic to both worlds – and unmistakably ours?

The answer lay in the Museum's most iconic spaces. Its breathtaking Hintze Hall, with soaring arches and intricate botanical ceiling panels, has welcomed millions of visitors over the decades. Those ceiling panels – delicate, geometric, and steeped in Victorian craftsmanship – became the canvas for our first design.

The Tropius 24K Gold Decoration reimagines this Grass-type Pokémon

In the very style of those historic botanical panels. Tropius, with its leaf-like wings and gentle presence, felt like the perfect bridge between natural history and the Pokémon universe. We etched every detail with precision, layering 24-karat gold accents to capture both the elegance of the Museum's architecture and the character's natural beauty. The result is an ornament that feels as though it could have been discovered in the Museum's archives – a artefact from a world where Pokémon and Victorian design coexist.

But we didn't stop there.

Our second creation brought even more beloved faces into the fold.

The Pikachu and Friends 24K Gold Decoration features Pikachu – the undisputed icon of the franchise – alongside a joyful collection of Pokémon, all set against the majestic backdrop of Hintze Hall. This piece celebrates the perfect harmony between nature, architecture, and imagination. With intricate 24-karat gold detailing and a design that captures the energy and wonder of the pop-up itself, it has quickly become one of the most sought-after pieces in the collection.

Both ornaments are handcrafted with premium materials and finished to the exacting standards our collectors have come to expect. They're more than decorations – they're keepsakes that bridge generations, appealing equally to lifelong Pokémon fans and families who have spent years visiting the Museum together.

The Pokécology pop-up has been nothing short of extraordinary.

From oversized Pokémon trading cards to plushies, pins, and posters, every element of the collection celebrates the intersection of science, art, and storytelling. And to be part of that – to contribute our own chapter to this remarkable collaboration – has been a privilege beyond words.

What excites us most is knowing that these ornaments will travel home with families from across the country and around the world. They'll hang on Christmas trees for decades to come, sparking conversations about Pokémon, about natural history, and about the magic that happens when creativity knows no boundaries.

As we reflect on this collaboration, we're reminded once again of why we do what we do. Whether we're recreating the grandeur of Buckingham Palace, the elegance of a royal tiara, or the whimsical charm of a beloved Pokémon, our mission remains the same: to create heirlooms that capture moments of wonder and preserve them for generations.

The Pokécology pop-up runs until 19 April 2026, and both decorations are available exclusively at the Natural History Museum's pop-up shop and online at the Museum's website while stocks last. For those who couldn't secure tickets to visit in person, the online shop ships worldwide – bringing a piece of this extraordinary collaboration to Pokémon fans and collectors everywhere.

Because when two icons like the Natural History Museum and Pokémon come together – and when a third partner like The London Christmas Company is invited to join them – the result is something truly unforgettable.

And perhaps, in years to come, these ornaments will remind us all that the best collaborations are the ones that make us feel like children again.
